How do Nu-lok Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels work ?

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels work by converting solar energy into electricity.

PV panels consist of one or two layers of a semi-conducting material, usually silicon. When light hits the solar PV panels on your roof, it creates an electrical field across the layers, causing electricity to be generated.

This electricity flows through a cable to a central point (normally somewhere in your roof space), where it is converted by a small device called an inverter from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) – and then used throughout your household in the same way as electricity from mains supply to power all your appliances and lighting.

A Nu-lok solar roof means

  • A dedicated, clean, safe power source
  • Reduced electricity bills and protection against rising energy costs
  • Reduced carbon dioxide emissions – do your bit for the environment
  • Increased property value
  • Minimal maintenance with long operational life
  • No moving parts - silent operation
  • Seamless integration with your existing roof for a stunning result!
How do Nu-lok Solar panels work ?

Save on labour costs – Nu-lok Solar PV panels can be installed quickly and easily. Nu-lok’s superior roof fixing system means your panels are fitted and locked into place without the need for any extra fiddly nails or screws.

No expensive or bulky housings - Unlike other manufacturers, with the use of our patented system, Nu-lok Solar PV panels integrate seamlessly into your roof without the need for bulky, unsightly, moulded framework or housings. This means your Nu-lok environmentally friendly roof looks stunning, rather than an ugly bolt-on system!

Save more CO2 emissions – No expensive and bulky carriage or housings for Nu-lok Solar PV panels mean you save the environment from even more CO2 emissions.

Most other solar panels require expensive and heavy fixing structures to attach them to your roof. Because Nu-lok Solar PV panels are locked into place with the Nu-lok roofing system, no expensive or ugly support structure is required. And what most customers don’t realise is the amount of CO2 emissions created during the manufacture of the housings and fixings for other solar panels, effectively negates any savings you may have made through installing solar in the first place.

No extra nails or screws – Because Nu-lok uses a superior patented fixing system with no additional nails or screws, our solar PV panels can be quickly and effectively locked into place – and just as simply and easily removed for maintenance.

How does the Nu-lok Solar PV Grid Connected system work ?

Grid connected systems are most popular for homes and businesses in the UK. When you invest in a Nu-lok Solar system, you are buying a system that produces electrical units for use in your own home.

Once installed on your roof, an accredited electrician will connect your Nu-lok Solar PV system to your local electricity network, so that any additional energy you produce can be sold back to the grid.

A grid connected system works in conjunction with your local network, so that if you require more energy than you have generated, electricity is topped up by the grid - instead of your lights suddenly switching off!
